33 weeks! Ah! This is a huge milestone for us!
When we first met with our MFM, he was very up front with us that 50% of triplets are delivered before 33 weeks, most commonly 28-33. I told him we would make it to September, and he just smiled at me, and said we'll see. We are so close! 8 days away! Ultimately, I need these babies to stay put until at least September 3rd. Big sister is going to pre-school this year, and her first day is September 2nd. I don't want to miss it, nor do I want to take away from that excitement. So if they could just wait about 11 days then they are free to come out.
Our week didn't start great. Monday, after my horribly swollen feet and a slight headache I took my blood pressure and it was a bit high. Doctor wanted me to go in to be checked out, so off to UH Macdonald we went. My blood pressure was just fine, but after reviewing my charts, they decided to keep me there for a 24 hour urine collection, blood tests, and BP monitoring. I wasn't really prepared for them to admit me, and honestly hadn't expected them to. At first I felt like they were just taking precautions, until I spoke with one of the MFM's the next morning. He seemed a bit pushy with delivering, and said if I had one high BP reading or any protein in my urine while there he was going to diagnose me with pre-e and deliver. Thankfully everything stayed okay, and another MFM came in later Tuesday morning ready to send me home that night confident we could go another 2 weeks. I was so ready to go home! Babies were not wanting to co-operate...I always thought it was hard keeping 1 baby on the monitor...HA! Three is an absolute nightmare. They check them intermittently but have to do a NST once a day. The minimum is 30 minutes, maximum is 1 hour, and I have to hold still as much as possible he whole time. Good luck asking a miserable pregnant woman to hold still for an hour.
It ended up that they couldn't get what they needed in an hour (mind you, they began at a 5:45am) and sent me for an ultrasound and BPP's on all the babies. Everyone passed, and Baby A (Addisyn) appeared to have a safe amount of fluid. (Woohoo, all that extra fluid and long nights in the bathroom paid off!)
The light at the end of the tunnel is in sight. I just keep reminding myself that I need to enjoy this miracle. :)

Three heart monitors plus a contraction monitor, leaves very very little room!
While there, I also got to see the NICU. I guess there were triplets already there in the triplet room, and the nurse seemed to think they would be there for a while. She told me they had a double and single room ready for our babies since the night before. That freaked me out a little, but I am glad we ended up not need it. The NICU was nice, very warm, very private (for a NICU).
Around 9pm Tuesday night, I got to go home! Nothing like going home, showering, and sleeping in your own bed! We followed up with our doctor the next morning, BP was good. This week we have a growth scan, so depending on how the babies look, we will schedule an induction or c-section for 36-37 weeks.
Since being home, everything has been alright. I've spent a lot of time in bed. I think my body has reached a wall, and it is mad at me and taking it out on me. Wednesday my in-laws stopped while they traveled to Michigan. We took them to lunch, and by the time lunch was over I was just down right exhausted. Once we were back home, I went straight to bed. Funny thing, I was rolling over and nearly got stuck on my back. Rolling over is a process, I have to make a pit stop on my back. Well, this time, I couldn't finish rolling over, and couldn't get back to the other side. I apparently made a lot of noise attempting to get back on my side, Jason actually had to make sure I was alright. Once I used the headboard and got some momentum I was able to make it over. I would imagine that is how a turtle feels stuck on it's back- not fun!
Aside from being tired, I hurt. My legs hurt from swelling, and my thighs ache from all the weight they are supporting. When I walk, I lean back so far (I feel like I will fall on my face if I don't) so my back kills me. I can't stand for very long, or sit for very long either for that matter. I end up out of breathe, so I spend most of the time laying down, trying to find some comfort. I keep reminding myself it's almost over, and the reward is so great. But, it's really hard mentally to be so limited, especially for someone who likes to be up and out and about. It's especially hard when I really can't do much with my kiddos.
I did however manage a shower and to fix my hair for an updated belly pic. Thanks to my wonderful exercise ball, I can sit for a little bit longer!
33 weeks of triplet pregnancy and you still look great!!! Still wishing at least 2 more weeks for you!!
